Leaning into “Earnest Adulting”
The Myth of the "Put-Together" Adult.
We’ve all seen them. The people who meal prep 21 colorful containers on a Sunday, whose white sofas remain suspiciously unstained, and who seem to have a "filing system" for their life that isn’t just a junk drawer in the kitchen.
For a long time, that was the goal. But at Yours Truly, we’re realizing that the pressure to be 100% "on" all the time is, frankly, exhausting.
What is Earnest Adulting?
To me, it’s the space between "I have no idea what I’m doing" and "I’m doing my absolute best."
Earnest Adulting is about sincerity. It’s about the person who forgot to switch the laundry for the third time today but still showed up to the meeting with a smile (and a very large coffee). It’s about celebrating the small wins—like actually making that dentist appointment or finally drinking enough water—without feeling like you have to be perfect to be successful.
Normalizing the Chaos
Our new collection, Earnest Adulting, was born from this "beautifully messy truth." We wanted to create gear that speaks to the reality of the 9-to-5, the 5-to-9, and everything in between.
Whether it’s a sweatshirt that acknowledges your chronic need for caffeine or a tote bag that carries your "perpetual state of disorganization," these pieces are badges of honor. They say: “I’m here, I’m trying, and I’m not going to pretend it’s easy—but I’m going to have a laugh while I do it.”
Survival and Sincerity Go Hand-in-Hand
We believe that when we stop pretending we have it all figured out, we actually connect better with each other. There is something incredibly brave about being earnest in a world that often rewards being "cool" or "detached."
So, welcome to the club. It’s a little chaotic in here, the plants might be slightly wilted, and we definitely need more snacks—but the company is great.
